Brow Lift

Part of perhaps the most famous cosmetic surgery procedure one can get, the brow lift (also known as the forehead lift) is most commonly performed in conjunction with a full-blown rhytidectomy or facelift. While most facelifts will include the brow, patients can request that Dr. Myron Tanenbaum simply target the forehead specifically for more localized care.

As with other types of facial plastic surgery in Miami, FL, patients typically elect to get a brow lift due to the loss of elasticity in the facial tissue that comes with aging. Over time, the skin between the eyebrows and eyelashes will compress, causing the brow to fall forward over the eyes. This can cause the face to take on the appearance of someone who is angry or fatigued, or in more severe cases, can even limit one’s field of vision.

The Procedure

Lifting the skin of the forehead is accomplished utilizing one of a few different methods. Each type has been perfected by Dr. Myron Tanenbaum over the years. Truly, this level of flexibility helps to add to the fame of this type of cosmetic surgery, as patients with naturally high foreheads or receding hairlines can still enjoy the benefits of a brow lift in a more catered procedure.

  • Endoscopic Brow Lift: Much like an endoscopy, where the doctor will send a camera and light down the patient’s throat, an endoscopic brow lift utilizes the same techniques to look at the subcutaneous facial tissue underneath the forehead. By making a series of small incisions above the hairline, the camera is sent in to look at the state of the musculature which will then guide the surgeon to lift the brow with various tools through the other small openings.

  • Coronal Brow Lift: A more traditional technique in this plastic surgery, Dr. Myron Tanenbaum will make an incision under the hair on the top of the head, typically from ear to ear. He will then pull the skin up in order to raise the skin of the brow. The overlapping skin will be removed and the incision, sewn up.

  • Hairline Brow Lift: Instead of working above the hairline, where a scar can be easily hidden under the patient’s hair, this style of cosmetic surgery is performed directly at the hairline and the excess skin is removed directly from the forehead. This way none of the cranial skin is moved and the hairline is not raised. One drawback is that the scar left over from the incision may be visible to others.

One of the most popular types of plastic surgery in Miami, FL, the brow lift is a specialty of Dr. Myron Tanenbaum and his staff. If you feel that your forehead is drooping significantly, either to age or even stroke paralysis, feel free to contact the clinic for a consultation.
